Health matters: Conference participants should visit a health care provider in their community to discuss travel plans to Ethiopia, assess possible health risks, and determine any necessary vaccinations and medications. An International Certificate of Vaccination for yellow fever is required for entry into Ethiopia. A four- to six-week period is often recommended between vaccination and travel. This means you should visit your health care provider or public health facility well in advance of the conference for your yellow fever vaccination. Other vaccinations also may be recommended. For more information on disease risks and recommended medications (including preventative drugs for East Africa), visit the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Health Information for Travelers to Countries in East Africa page: www.cdc.gov/travel/eafrica.htm.
